The Generic Leggins...

Leggins are now popularized as outerwear, and as with all other generic stretch garments covered so far, have origins in underwear and also active/sportswear. This relates to this garment being connected to allowing freedom of movement and body gestures, and acting as a second skin. Construction of leggings is determined by how they are cut, and if they are not fully fashioned kints, or tubular knits, they usually have an inside leg seam and a CB and CF crotch seam. Usually elastic is cased in a bind and coverstitched or zig zagged to the waist.

Below are pictures from the label American Apparel, showcasing their wide varieties of leggings. They notoriously known for the provocative advertisements, usually presenting porn stars such as the stunning Sasha Grey photographed by the legend Terry Richardson. I guess I feel this photographs present the idea of the legging as a 'second skin' in a barley their way. I like how the models are natural looking, with no touch ups and over the top makeup. I feel it creates a raw and dynamic situation that portrays nudity and the ideas behind the usage of clothing.
